Description

Updated Classics Built for Power & Precision

The original Hi-‘S’ Special Power Float rods earned a strong reputation for controlling hard-fighting specimens such as Barbel, Chub and Tench. The much-sought-after 15ft version became the go-to rod for trotting the Trent, offering superb control over large fish in fast water. Following periods of limited availability, these rods return with the same powerful blanks but now feature updated fittings, improved weight reduction and two new lengths – 14ft and 17ft.

Ultra-Light 40T Japanese Carbon

Using the same 40T Ultra Low Resin Japanese carbon as the Hi-‘S’ Waggler range, these rods remain remarkably light to hold, making them ideal for long sessions on rivers and stillwaters. This high-grade carbon maintains its rigidity over time, ensuring the blank retains its crisp action even after years of use.

Refined Actions for Specialist Float Work

  • 10ft – Perfect for tight river swims, snaggy margins and trotting for powerful species like Chub and Barbel. Also ideal for commercial carp waggler work.
  • 12ft – A superb light-to-medium tool for Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd and Crucians. Sensitive in the tip with progressive mid-to-butt power.
  • 13ft – A versatile all-rounder for river or stillwater float work, suitable for stick floats, wagglers and pellet wagglers.
  • 14ft – Three-piece design for easier transport without compromising action. Excellent for river or lake species including Barbel, Grayling and Tench.
  • 15ft – Designed for flowing water; incredibly light for its length. Ideal for long trotting, mending line and controlling large fish at range.
  • 17ft – Developed for long trotting further across the river and exceptional line control. Ideal for fast water or deep-water float work where precise presentation is essential.

Designed for Serious Float Anglers

The 12ft and 13ft rods use two-piece construction for the best possible action and slimmer profile, while the longer 14ft, 15ft and 17ft models use three or four-piece designs for practicality without compromising performance. The 10ft model is particularly effective when space is limited or when extra leverage is needed to keep fish clear of snags.

Premium Components & Modernised Build

  • ‘A’ grade full cork handles with EVA butt grip
  • Fuji lock-down reel seat with EVA foregrip
  • Combination of double and single-leg ‘S’-Lite high stand-off guides
  • Revised build removes stainless steel fittings for 12–20% weight reduction
  • High stand-off guide pattern prevents line sticking to the blank when trotting

With updated cosmetics, reduced weight and expanded model choice, the Hi-‘S’ Special Power Float range delivers exceptional performance for modern float anglers targeting powerful fish in both rivers and stillwaters.
